Movie Review: Rurouni Kenshin, Kyoto Inferno

Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno is  very exciting for me to watch especially that Shishio Makoto is the main villain.  In my past post, I already confessed that my all time favorite anime series is Rurouni Kenshin (aside from Akazukin ChaCha). So seeing Takeru Satoh as Himura Battousai in this live action film based on manga/ anime is…Rurouni Kenshin Kyoto Inferno

This is  a  satisfying live action film adaptation

Believe me isa ako sa kokontra sa mga adaptation or remake lalo na kung gustong-gusto ko ang original.  And I can’t blame my friends and fellow anime fans if they’re hesitant to watch this movie starring Takeru Satoh (Kenshin), Emi Takei (Kaoru), Yōsuke Eguchi (Saito), Tao Tsuchiya  (Misao)  and Takuya Fujiwara (Shishio) . Anime is anime ika nga, dito lang acceptable ang unbelievable. Kaya it will be hard for any directors or producers na gawin ito sa  live action film kasi hindi mo puwedeng basta susundin yung mala-anime effect nito.

  • Awesome stunts and fight scenes – You want fast, impressive swordsmanship or incredible strength? You can see those things and more sa movie. Of course unlike sa anime series, dito mas  pinaiksi ang back story at dialogues pero mas spicy.  Don’t miss Kenshin’s heartbreaking encounter with Shishio’s right hand Sojiro Seta (played by Ryunosuke Kamiki) and thrilling fight scene with

    Sawagejō Chō (Ryosuke Miura ).

  •   Empathizing characters and subplots – Unlike other antagonist, puwedeng you hate Shishio but  you understand why he has crazy principle and unstoppable revenge. Allow me to remind you or introduce him – he was a former assassin of (Meiji) government but nang masyado na s’yang maraming nalalaman   they decided to kill and burn him  in the end. In fact, he was Kenshin’s successor as hitokiri (man slayer/ assassin)  after he became wanderer ( rurouni). And Rurouni Kenshin has a fictional story but we know that in reality totoo ang eksena sa movie na may mga batang naiipit sa giyera at nakakasaksi ng patayan.
Hindi ganito sa movie,  it sets your mood and heighten your emotion.

Actors give justice to their characters

Yes, I’m talking about Tatsuya Fujiwara who portrayed Shishio Makoto, napanood ko s’ya sa Death Note bilang si Light Yagami.

Mas kita ang acting n’ya doon ( bukod sa  wala siyang bandage all over) pero dito he gives justice to his notorious character.

Hajime Saito. Itong si Yōsuke Eguchi ay parang si Daniel Day Lewis or Johnny Depp dahil  in character siya from outfit, hithit, swordsmanship at linya.
