When I thought I knew almost everything about blogging, specifically on the content side, I realized I didn’t. iBlog: the Philippine 11th Blogging Summit taught me that I could do more as a blogger or online publisher. Thus, I am thankful to be part of this notable blogging event led by Philippine Ecommerce and Digital Influencers ambassadress Janette Toral.
Blogging 2.0: Tips on Podcasting
May I confess? Despite that, I’m active online due to work, business, blogging, and other stuff; I don’t have a high-tech smartphone. Of course, I have reasons and considerations before buying new gadgets. These days dumadami na ang dahilan at ilan sa mga iyon ay ang kagustuhan kong subukan ang video blogging or vlogging and podcasting.
Sakto at the #iBlog summit, Marv de Leon of Freelance Blend discussed Podcasting for First Timers, RD Llarena talked about Video Blogging for First Timers and famous Pinoy dubber Pocholo de Leon Gonzales explained Opportunities and Challenges in Podcasting and Video Blogging.
Through Sir Marv’s talk, I verified that it pays to invest in good quality equipment like a microphone, headphone, laptop or desktop, digital recorder, pop filter, mixer, and shock mouth for podcasting. For first-timers like me, a decent mic would be good, then once okay na invest na ng iba. Anyway, he also shared naman:
- We shouldn’t be intimidated sa ibang podcasters– Nosibalasi ang peg
- Prioritize producing epic content – ahem, ako pa lang epic na chuz!
- Commit to podcasting consistently or at least once a week– Good luck, but I think it is doable
I don’t know yet if podcasting is really for me, but if I enjoy it and want to learn more. Na-realize ko lang din na dream ko before na maging radio personality. So sa podcasting may puwang na ang pangarap ko (hugot!). Baka mas maging bigger, wider, and richer pa ako because of Podcasting.
Bloggers on Video blogging
On the other hand, due to a Blogapalooza moment, I was somewhat inspired to turn my YouTube channel into more than just a storage site for my videos. I know that videos would be interesting kung may good edit, effects, and background. Nandoon pa rin ako sa point na ‘yon para i-explore. Ang dalawa ko lang concerns ay gaano ako kahanda to expose myself. Gaanong time and energy and kaya kong ibahagi to work on video blogging consistently.
Sa iBlog11, I realized many things that motivated me to do it na. Siguro, it boils down to finding a solid purpose, apart sa time is gold, and I have ideas/ talents to share, chuz! RD Llarena at Pocholo Gonzales gave me insights into how to do it, what to expect, and why to do it efficiently despite concerns.
On the other hand, Donald Lim’ (ABS-CBN Chief Digital Officer) talked about Mobile Blogging & Advertising, and Louie Sison discussed ideas on How to Turn a Blog from a Hobby to a Business. Dahil sa kanila na-remind ako na it’s worth investing my precious resources (a.k.a time and effort) in video blogging.
Follow ko yang advice ni Mr. Donald na good content and user experience ang focus dapat sa advertising at yung kay Mr. Sison na “plan your business continuity.”
May Part 2 ba ang event na ito?
I’m interested in learning about video blogging and podcasting.
