It’s true in Arts and culture there are freedom of expression, connection, creativity, and yes, healing too.  Let’s all witness and rediscover the cultural wonders of Filipinos in Philippine Arts Festival 2014 this February na may temang Arts on Edge.

It’s my second time to attend Blogger’s Hour ng National Commission Culture and the Arts (NCCA) na mas nagiging exciting pa because of the information and sentiments na ibinabahagi ni chairman Felipe De Leon, Jr.  Alam mo ‘yong, nag-aral naman ako ng history, sibika at kultura at MAPE  (Music, Arts, & Physical Education) pero  marami pa talaga akong ‘di alam, ganun ang feeling in a nice way.

Highlights:  The Rise of the Artists in Tacloban, CDO and Capiz

Ayon pa kay Prof. De Leon ay originally and naturally ay mahilig sa mixed arts ang mga Pinoy.  Pero dahil in-adapt na ang Western influence ay  nagkaroon na nga paghahati at ngayon nga sa PAF ay mayroong 7 sub committees na may kani-kaniyang programa..

The National Committee on Architecture and Allied Arts, headed by architect Gerard Lico – “Archi[types/texts] 2014,” which will be held in different institutions across the country from Feb. 2 until March 7.

The National Committee on Cinema, sa pangunguna ni Dr. Miguel Rapatan, ay mayroong “Cinema Rehiyon 6” sa Cagayan de Oro City na tatakbo Feb. 18-22. Tampok dito ang mga Independent filmmakers from Baguio, Pampanga, Calabarzon, Naga, Bacolod, Cebu, Davao, General Santos, Zamboanga at iba pa.

The National Committee on Dance ni Ma’am Shirley Halili-Cruz ay may “Sayaw Pinoy.” Sa Ika-11 taon ng most-awaited part ng PAF ay ini-invite nito ang mga participant and audience  na mag-donate ng bagong school supplies  gaya ng notebooks, lapis, pens, at papel na ibigay sa mga school children sa Capiz, Bohol, Iloilo at Zamboanga. Isa rin  gagawin nila ay ang dance therapy workshops para sa mga kabataan.  Ito naman ang kanilang schedule:

The National Committee on Literary Arts of Priscilla Macansantos ay magkakaroon ng “Taboan 2014: Philippine Literary Arts Festival” sa Subic Freeport Zone sa Pebrero 24-26, 2014.   Dito ay magsasanib ang mga writers, guro at mag-aaral para sa mga aktibidad gaya ng lectures, book fair, literary readings, cultural tours, awards ceremony at iba pa.

Taal-Tunugan

The National Committee on Music, headed by Prof. Felipe de Leon, Jr. – tinatampok ang “Taal-Tunugan.” Type ko ito dahil gagamit sila ng mga musical instruments na gawa nila mula sa mga recycled materials.

The National Committee on Dramatic Arts ni Sir Lutgardo Labad ay may “Tanghal 2014,” na pagbibidahan ng mga university-based theater groups.

Philippine Visual Arts Xtreme

The National Committee on Visual Arts ni Nemesio Miranda ay magtatampok ng “Philippine Visual Arts Xtreme” (PVAX) sa Tacloban (Feb. 20-23) at Manila Hotel (Feb. 15-19).
